Abstract
In 2015, the new tuberculosis notification rate was 63.2 per 100,000 persons. This was an 8.1% decrease from the previous year. Moreover, there was a decrease in new tuberculosis notification rate in most age groups. However, the Republic of Korea still ranks the highest number in three major indicators - incidence, prevalence, and mortality - among OECD countries. Thus, there is a need to sustain efforts to improve surveillance; strengthen management of tuberculosis patients; and enhance public awareness of tuberculosis prevention.
